Ask: Lipstick

Just wondering if any friends have recommendations for lipstick and/or lipgloss brands they like? As part of my decluttering campaign I am getting rid of all but one of my lipsticks (the only makeup I still use; believe it or not I think some of them are 10 years old!) and I went to the Sephora yesterday but was overwhelmed by choice.

I am middle aged so I don't need glitter or shine, just a decent pink and maybe a wine colored one. I'm only got to buy, like, two or three max, so they can be higher end brands, preferably something I can get in the US.

Sadly, I am not the person to ask.

I stick with clear gloss but I think the sugar lip treatments by Fresh might be a good option. Comes in a lot of colors and they should be available at Sephora for you to try.

For a more inexpensive option, you can look at Burt's Bees too. They also have tinted lip balms and are a fraction of the cost of Fresh. 😃 (I prefer lip balms with SPF so that's usually why I stick with the non-tinted options.)

Here via network and I don't necessarily want to recommend specific shades since I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but the Sephora own-brand #lipstories line is relatively inexpensive and has a array of nice colors in various finishes (matte, satin, metallic). It does have a scent though, which can be off-putting.

If you don't mind spending a little more money, I love Bobbi Brown's luxe lipstick - my favorite is Hibiscus but there are a number of lovely shades. Charlotte Tilbury also has some good shades as well. Shiseido Vision Airy Lip Gel is also great.

I'd recommend looking at colors online and then returning to the store with a list in hand to see them in person for the best chance of getting something you really like that will also look good on you.
