Yeah, I have a fear (probably slightly exaggerated) of slipping and falling on ice. I have done it enough that I really don't like it. Maybe it's the way I walk but I seem to do it more often than other people. And, for example, it's the middle of the afternoon--sun is out--and it's 12 degrees Farenheit--so negative 11 Celsius--so nothing is melting at all.
These socks are thicker than any I have ever worn. She bought them for Colorado (which is very cold and snowy in the winter) and now she lives in North Carolina (on the coast where it is much, much warmer) so I suppose she doesn't need this kind anymore. But it's like sticking your foot in a sheep.
