Word: Banjax

I haven't don't one of these since April, but I've come across some new-to-me words.

Wednesday's word is...

...banjax.

1. ruin, incapacitate, or break.

I found this new-to-me word in the Inspector Rebus I just finished (Saints of the Shadow Bible).

"...Reckons we banjaxed the Saunders case to keep a good snitch on the street."

I would also like to add this saying (also new-to-me) from the same which is very Rebus.

Fair exchange is no robbery

That is definitely going to be the title of my next hard-boiled detective fic. It's great.

I like 'banjax' although I don't think I've ever actually used it.

Come across the word, but not used it.
It’s a neat phrase, isn’t it?

That word does ring a bell from my past, I am sure I've heard of it before, hmmm...Now it's back in my brain 😊

banjax, sounds a bit like a sniglet... I keep remembering skookum from my Casselman's book. It was odd as it means something mighty and enthused and I have yet to see on anything other than decaf coffee somewhere with the word skookum involved. I must wonder if it was skookum when it had no caffeine? Banjax makes me want to use it like, "What the banjaz was that?" But anyway... um, hi. ^_^
