News & Views

1. The great news is that the Gates Foundation is going to fund the boys' father's work for 2 years. He has been working (and continues to work) day and night on proposals and plans to keep the work alive since the dissolution of USAID. His boss told him to celebrate last week because of an organization which had 70+ people, there are only 10 left and it's still going thanks in large part to him.

2. My work is going along. I am learning my clients' needs and preferences and ways. People live very differently, from very messy to very clean and that's interesting.

3. Trying to figure out when to fic and how to get myself in the mood & mindset to fic.

Not much else exciting going on.

Ryu and Ryua went camping again!

it's great that the Gates Foundation is providing funding to continue at least some of the program - such a tragedy that the current regime opted to kill it. but it's wonderful that some will survive to help folks (as well as keep your partner employed)

Congratulations to your Boys' Father! It does sound like he did (and does) great work indeed, and I'm so glad the nearer future is (financially) secure for your family. That's such a relief to hear!

I think my sister's last job was something similar to yours: she visited clients at home to help them with their daily chores (household cleaning, shopping etc.), and although she never gossipped about them she did emphasize the very different circumstances they lived in. She did like doing this very much, but her employer organisation was/is an absolute shithole, so thankfully she quit (which took her a lot of strength, because she didn't think anyone would like/need her) after she applied at her GP as (some kind of) secretary. I'm very glad she got there, because she seems to be 100% better since the change.

So, excuse my tangent, I guess what I wanted to say is: you're doing absolutely brilliant! You'll never know what tomorrow brings, but now you know you can accomplish a lot of more things than you would have thought half a year ago! And that's worth so much. ♥

I'm so glad to hear about the Gates Foundation funding the work!

Yes, people do live very differently, it's amazing how many ways, isn't it.

You and he are both doing well, I know how difficult it's been for you recently.

I am definitely at the messy end. I just think 'why tidy up? It only gets messy again.' I mean it's not unhygienic, just piles of books, boxes everywhere. I've stopped caring I suppose, as I've been stuck here for so long.
