My Poem: The Old Guard: Baklava Blues: Gen

Title: Baklava Blues
Fandom: The Old Guard
Character: Andy
Poetic Form: blues stanza
Length: 150
Rating: Gen

a thousand years and a thousand more, and yet ‘em bees still makin’ honey
been there, here, tossed up on every shore, and yet ‘em bees still makin’ honey
to make baklava sweet-sunny

almond, pecan, pistachio, cashew, there’s plenty o’ nuts in the tree
walnut, chestnut, macadamia, too, there’s plenty o’ nuts in the tree
the baklava nut is crazy-me.

it’s layer upon layer, this life, pilin’ on, whether thin or thick
sometimes like filigree, sometimes a piece of cake, but whether thin or thick
like baklava, it all seems to stick

pinch of somethin’ warm, cinnamon and clove, a fine recipe
roses in the water, saffron in the yolk, a fine recipe
baklava, so much more treacly

a thousand more, almond walnut, pistachio, how can I be blue?
it’s layer upon layer, roses in water, saffron in yolk, how can I be blue?
baklava, abides, my true love true

This made me quite hungry. I know you don't like to cook but you certainly can evoke deliciousness in your poems.

Filo dough and honey! Great minds, indeed!
