Musical Mondays

Still at the classical music!

I went looking for a female composer who'd done a nocturne and found a lovely piece by Clara Schumann and did a bit of a prose poem. Also I've put all my nocturne ficlets together in a ACD post called A Little Night Music on AO3.

Title: Ruined Empire
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (ACD)
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Length: 1075
Rating: Gen
Notes: Inspired by Clara Schumann's Nocture in F Major Opus 6 No. 2 and Shelley's Ozymandias.
Summary: Watson and Holmes observe each other on a quiet night train.

I haven't had as much time to listen in the last fortnight and everything I've listened to, I've liked or at least appreciated. I'm still using the Classical Music for Dummies lists and I've finished list 1.

Some things I know I like without a listen:

Blue Danube Waltz. Strauss.
The Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky.
Four Seasons. Vivaldi.

Other things I've liked

Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture. Violin Concerto in D Minor. Tchaikovsky.
Guitar Concerto in D Major. Vivaldi.

Things I've appreciated but not liked:
Piano Concerto no 1 in B-flat Major. Tchaikovsky.
Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished). Schubert.

So, on y va to the next list!

I love hearing about your adventures in classical music and can't wait to see what is on the second list!

I'm not a great fan of Strauss, but I like the others in your latest selection.
