She's Crafty: Debriswoman's Junk Journal

So this is the junk journal I made for [personal profile] debriswoman as an early birthday gift aka Super Secret Craft Project #3.

The outside is a Singer Sewing Manual (1969) which I got for free at the library craft swap. I gutted it and bound 3 signatures, 44 pages (88 pages total).

There are three distinct themes to the signatures: nature, detectives, and art.You can seem the three themes represented on the cover. I am not crazy about the tassel (I think Hobbit's was better but c'est la vie)

The intention of this was very different from Hobbit's junk journal. This is a junk journal that can be written in or sketched in, so every set of pages was divided into LEFT - inspiration and RIGHT - creation.

So left would be images to inspire and right would be space to write or sketch. What I am most proud of is the edges I had a lot of fun with the edges in his one.

Compared to Hobbit's journal, there are very few interactive parts. And there were postcards included but they were blank (meaning I didn't decorate them) and meant for the recipient to use themselves. No tags at all.

Here is the first page of the nature signature (because it's on the right is a CREATE page):

and this was the left, the INSPIRE page. There were treats: seeds, handmade little blank books, tea, a cross stitch pattern, stickers, handmade bookmarks.

We like detectives and detective stories. Here's the first page of the detective signature.

And I love this guy. He's my favorite.

This is my favorite edge. I like the junk journal philosophy because it's about recycling things as ephemera and that appeals. The edge of this is cards from a travel Clue game which I would have pitched (because nobody in my house likes to play Clue but me)

And the first page of the art signature.

And I have to mention that this is one of Minisculus' school paintings. As a mom, you get a lot of school artwork and I was happy to use it.

Another totally amazing creation. Very different from mine, but that just shows how much individual care and attention you put into making them.
