In your own space, talk about a fannish opinion you hold that has changed over time.

These days, I think of my AO3 account as an archive for personal use which I allow the internets to peer onto. I don't think of posting stories there as the same as publishing them, so I am less upset about typos or hate/bot comments or something being beta'd which did bother me when I first started posting stories.

I agree with that view. Typos still annoy me, especially when I spot them just after I've posted something, but that's life.

Yes. I seem to find a lot of missing quotation marks at the ends of sentences :( but as you say, that's life.

Sim, nós nos acostumamos com o processo e envelhecemos (e mais maduros - espero) e descobrimos que parte do fandom realmente importa para nós.

That is so sensible. I'm thinking of AO3 as that too now, I used to have lovely long discussions with people about my fics, but that rarely happens now. So I now think of it as true to its name An ARCHIVE of our own. Not a CONVERSATION of our own.

This is more or less how I think of AO3 too. Though the occasional new comments about how I posted a fic that's been up there since 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. still bother me. (Apparently, using the series feature is now considered bad, so I should take down my series of individual, but related one shots of the same series and repost them as a chapter fic. I think not.)

Huh. Well, I have gotten the opposite recommendation in the past (to post individual fics instead of a chaptered ficlet collection) so the trend may change. You do you!

Yeah. Trying to keep up with the ever changing trends would just be tying one's self up in knots.

Great! Yeah looking at it as a shelf of notebooks rather than a publishing house has eliminated most of the anxiety I have about this hobby of mine.
