Rating: Gen

Summary: a raven shows compassion to an injured wolf
The wolf knew that she would not see the spring.
slow-moving carcass. Unable to hunt
raven, peering
a half-hearted snarl. The bird flew away.
Kraa-kraa! Kraa-kraa!
opening. The Wolf’s bark
Toc-toc-toc! Toc-toc-toc!
one side of the nest was the skull
every shape and size, shiny round pebbles
Toc-toc-toc! The raven tilted its head
Back and forth
Back and forth with its beak
The wolf closed her eyes
She slept a dreamless sleep.
something dark on the white snow. The wolf smelt
The promise of a good meal made her blood sing.
with her teeth. She feasted. Absorbed in her
choice piece of heart
Kraa-kraa! Kraa-kraa!
catch-me-if-you-can into the forest.
twig, snapping
Prruk-prruk-prruk!
inside. Finally,
sang, a beautiful song
heard. The music told
of bravery and brilliance, of flying and chasing,
Prruk-prruk-prruk!
The wolf curled her tail around the raven
