Snowflake Challenge Day 2: Sherlock Holmes (ACD) AU recs

The Snowflake Challenge Day 2 is:

Day 2

Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.

Sherlock Holmes (ACD) Alternate Universes.

The Vermillion series by gardnerhill. Vampire!Holmes/human!Watson. My favourite AU series in all of the ACD fandom. I adore every word of this series.

The Art of the Blood by Vulgarweed. Another vampire AU. Holmes/Watson. Inspired by Paganini's bloodletting kit and a fill for my bid for the Fandom Trumps Hate auction. Vulgarweed, like a dark, gothic fairy god-ficcer, made my nightmare come true.

Stormy Petrels and Seventeen Steps by rachelindeed. ACD Wing!lock. Holmes/Watson. Holmes and Watson have wings, Holmes those of a goshawk, Watson those of a skylark. Lovely! My second favourite AU in ACD fandom.

I am the Girl for Her by sans_patronymic. Genderswap AU. fem!Holmes/fem!Watson. Holmes and Watson with busts and bustles. Ardent hand pressing by a ficcer who can create entire Merchant Ivory productions out of a single unwashed teacup.

And if you can imagine Holmes & Watson as themselves but surrounded by a kind of Victorian Muppet-style menagerie.

The Ocelot Collection by Small_Hobbit. If you like this, you'd also like The Marylebone Monthly Illustrated [but, per the rules of the Day's challenge, I'm not allowed to rec it as I am a contributor].

I love a good AU, but Sherlock is one of those massive fandoms that I find hard to navigate. Thanks for these!

Those are the ones I first encountered as a kid so I like those better!

And if you can imagine Holmes & Watson as themselves but surrounded by a kind of Victorian Muppet-style menagerie. I've never thought of it in those terms but you're so right ^___^

A great selection of recs - I really must go and read 'I am the Girl for Her' again ^__^

I did wonder if you might have to expand on the muppet comparison:-)

I really like the description of the Ocelot & Co being Muppet-style. Although the Ocelot would like to point out that the Ferret is the only muppet!
