I am participating in
singedsun's writing game. This is a post for reference for me and an invitation for anyone who thinks they'd like to participate. It seems like a very cool, long-term kind of project. I am thinking an amnesia mystery, but still pondering possibilities.

In this game you play as someone who has woken up with memory loss. You don't remember who you are, where you are, or what you care about. You "play" by following the arcs for the story and using the tarot cards as prompts to journal about. Cards can be interpreted by the images on the cards (intuitively) or more rigidly by looking up the meanings of the cards regardless (mostly) of what the cards look like.
There are five arcs with three prompts for each arc of the game, so if you're ALL in, you'd potentially you'd write five (maybe six if you wanted to round it out with an epilogue based on the final card) journal posts based on the cards you're given. And again, what you write and in what genre (non-fiction, mystery, fantasy, thriller, supernatural) or format (poetry, blog/diary, fictional narrative) you like. Most importantly, there is no real RIGHT or WRONG way to interpret your prompts. Write what feels right to you based on the prompts and the cards I give you.

singedsun]
1. Comment that you want to play and I'll assign you at random card from the Major Arcana that serves as a reference to the person you once were (the shadow of your former self)
2.With your comment give me 3 numbers between 1 and 14 (roll randomly if you'd like, or I can), tell me if you'd like standard cards, or for me to choose from a themed deck (I've got 20+ decks so there are myriad options)
3. I'll respond with 3 questions and the corresponding Major Arcana cards as your prompt (pictures of the cards can be included if you want a non-standard deck)
4. You write your journal entry for that question - setting up the story however you like for yourself and then @ tag me in your entry with 3 more random numbers between 1 and 14 (use the same numbers or different ones, that's up to you)
5. I'll give you three more prompts for your next journal entry
6. Repeat until you've completed four entries, at which point, you pick of your own accord a Major Arcana (or I can choose one for you) that'll reflect your character's new self, how they'll move forward better understanding who they are.
THE END? Finish out strong or keep going. Make it a full story using this character as inspiration, or just to think more fully about your own self and how you view your own identity.
So, I asked for numbers 3, 8, 9 and a themed deck. Here's what I got. From The Golden Night tarot deck by Grace Ciummo.
For you Shadow Self (who you were before) I've drawn: STRENGTH
And your prompts:
THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE
"You open your mouth and hear yourself speak. What is your voice like?"
THE FOOL
"Your hand closes around a memento in your pocket. What is this memento. How does it make you feel?"
THE WORLD
"You realize you have an intense craving for something. What are you craving?"
