Into the Void
May. 25th, 2022 03:09 pmThe boys' father is leaving on Saturday for 3+ weeks so I am busy cleaning and stocking and getting everything ready for his departure. Lots of shopping today and these dogs are barking. Ruff, ruff!
I've decided to stop feeding the birds and squirrels. When this bag of seed is done, I am going to sweep the balcony and the buffet will be closed. I am feeling no desire to even slightly take care of or provide for any creatures but the ones that I'm legally obligated to.
Like many, I am doing Dracula Daily. I got a copy of the annotated version and the Cliff Notes, too, at the library yesterday to enrich the experience.
I am trying to get through The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell but it's a bit of a slog. Very dense. I have a very tall TBR pile including Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie; Last Call, a true crime set in queer NYC in the 1990s; a YA Sleeping Beauty remix; as well as books my sister and friends have sent, so my cup runneth over in the word department.
Ficwise, there's a couple I'd love to whip out very, very soon, but I don't know if I'll make it. Then Unconventional Courtship and Into a Bar for June. Poems for my sixth Yatzhee roll. I've only got 3 categories left! Wow!
I figured out (by trial and expensive error) that my laptop takes a micro USB port, but damn they don't make it easy for you.
I signed up for Duolingo for Korean and have a 6 day streak. Maybe apps are the way to go? I've always resisted apps, thinking they're for Young People or Technologically Savvy People or Someone Else, but I don't know, this Duolingo experience is making me rethink that stance.
My Edward Gorey puzzle is Very Difficult. I started it at the beginning of May and it may take me all summer. It's tough. Ugh.
