Unlike most people who like poetry, I preferred structured poetic forms, and this is a sestina. I love it as an example of a modern structured form which flows naturally. From Jo Bell's April 2017 posts.

Darling, Would You Please Pick Up Those Books? by Kathryn Maris.

How many times do I have to say
get rid of the books off the goddamn floor
do you have any idea how it feels
to step over books you wrote about her
bloody hell you sadist what kind of man
are you all day long those fecking books

in my way for 3 years your acclaimed books
tell me now what do you have to say
for yourself you think you’re such a man
silent brooding pondering at the floor
pretending you’re bored when I mention her
fine change the subject ask “Do I feel

like I need more medication” NO I don’t feel
like I need more medication
it’s the books
don’t you see don’t you see it’s her
why don’t you listen to anything I say
and for god’s sake books on the floor
are a safety hazard remember that man

from Cork who nearly died fine that man
fell over a hurley not a book but I don’t feel
you’re getting the point the point is that a floor
is not an intelligent place for books
books I have to see and books that say
exactly where and how you shagged her

I saw some inspiring entries in the oversized children's book Historium: Welcome to Museum by Jo Nelson. This is a triolet about a prehistoric drawing on a stone found in South Africa.

on painted stone of old cold stream
are figures three, laid by old bones,
in red, in black, in white, they dream
on painted stone of old cold stream,
with quiver and with bow, they seem
to dance into some old unknowns
on painted stone of old cold stream
are figures three, laid by old bones

I put together a miniature library/study and a miniature coffee shop and now I am embarking on assembling a miniature garden porch. It's early stages but I've found over the past 3 years I prefer to alternate between big parts (like walls) and small fiddly parts (like hand rakes). I can't think of too many fannish things done as a result of this interest, but I have written a horror story for Hallowe'en about Holmes and Watson and an evil dolls' house which wrecks havoc on them.

One of my favourite themes: coffee! Because we finished the 3 bags of coffee the boys' father brought back from Kenya. I was overwhelmed by choice in picking out the next coffee and ended up getting a Brazilian Medium roast from the Sprouts line (Sprouts is like Whole Foods, an organic supermarket).

I think this turned out really well and the scan was good, too.

It's not Tuesday but I do feel a bit like screaming into the void.

I chipped my tooth earlier in the week, on nothing, I mean, biting on a fork. It has me a bit depressed like 'I'm falling apart, bit by bit.' It's not that bad so I'm not going to the dentist especially for it but it is always THERE.

Today is Minor's birthday. He's 12. Some days I don't think I'm a good mother but I did do my best to make the blue and orange cake he asked for. I put one of his gifts in a puzzle box! I don't think he'll ever be a detective but I try.

My sleep has been irregular lately and I am having to take a whole OTC sleep pill rather than half to get to sleep. I don't like the dependency but a couple of days staying up until 3 am is even worse.

I try to leave BTS fandom and they keep sucking me back in. Jhope left for military service, which was sad, and SUGA dropped his album and is starting on his tour (the one I couldn't get tickets to) so it's a bitter reminder (along with the boys' birthdays and my mouth decay) of time marching on and WHAT AM I EVEN DOING??? Cue: existential angst.

I did some of my spring cleaning. I have a bit more to do but I wasn't going to do it today. And I didn't do laundry either. So I am sort of off-schedule. And I have to take Minisculus to a birthday party at an arcade at the mall tomorrow!!

We had some hot days and then it cooled off. I did a couple of days of A/C but turned it off but now it's hot again. The fans are going full blast.

Soccer season is upon us. Minor had his first game last Sunday and Minisculus has his this Sunday. So water bottles and cletes and shin guards and is it the blue or white uniform and all that stuff.

I am working on my little garden porch and reading the next Rebus and some poetry and, you know, wondering what it's all for???

But tomorrow is another day.
