I have mentioned a Campion novel I stumbled upon which I enjoyed immensely, Traitor's Purse. But there are others which I didn't enjoy as much and still others which I didn't finish. So, a mixed bag. And I haven't read them all. I still think that she deals with big issues (conspiracies, war, espionage, etc.) much more realistically than Agatha Christie. I think if Campion himself was more engaging as a character, her fame would be greater. Nevertheless, she is one of the four Queens of Crime and rightly so.
I tried my hand at a ficlet. The best thing about Coroner's Pidgin was the love of Lugg for a pig.
Title: Silk purse in a sow's ear
Rating: Gen
Fandom: Campion - Margery Allingham
Characters/Pairing: Campion & Lugg
Prompt: loyal
Warnings: none
Notes: references to Coroner's Pidgin, the pink flower in question is also called 'red campion.'
Summary: In his retirement, Campion solicits Lugg's help on a case.
