I've vaguely heard of this one, and it does sound pretty interesting. I was put off by the idea of a modern film-celebrity plot accompanying the historical stuff, but since you say that's not usually your thing either but you still enjoyed it, perhaps it is worth a try! I'll keep it in mind next time I want to read a nice brick :D
