stonepicnicking_okapi1. I am sick. Just a cold but it's getting worse by the hour and I'm feeling sorry for myself. I wish I could open my head and vacuum out all the gunk in my throat and sinuses and cranium.
2. So Advent today is going to be simple:
Today's theme is Roasted Chestnuts & Marzipan
The closet thing I could find about chestnuts was a Starbucks Chestnut Praline latte, which I am pretty sure bears little flavor resemblance to the actual nut.
If anyone has strong feelings about or recipes for chestnuts, feel free to drop in the comments.
Marzipan I found in this form:
Not something I would normally eat but tasty. Minor has a tree nut allergy so I don't keep a lot of that stuff in the house. I actually took him to his allergy/asthma doctor on Thursday (first in person visit in 4 years) and he asked her to redo the tree nut test (last done in 2019) so the day after Christmas we're going to the lab and see if he's still allergic/ how allergic he still is.
3. I got tickets to a walk-through lights display & fireworks show for the family on New Year's Eve. It goes until 8 pm (so not midnight) I felt like I want to DO something rather than the usual just go to bed and wake up in a new year.
4. Minisculus was home sick yesterday because he was vomiting Sunday (all day, every meal, from breakfast to dinner) and didn't know if it was safe to send him back. Definitely meant a change of plans.
5. My car is leaking again (the window seal). I tried the black goo instead of the white goo and it isn't as good.
6. Winter soccer is on hiatus til after new year. Yay!
7. I'm trying to cram an unholy number of fics into the last two weeks of the year.
8. I really wanted to finish my Marie Kondo, too. ARGH! I need an alternate universe in which to have this cold!

Date: 2023-12-19 05:26 pm (UTC)I need to do a proper Marie Kondo now that I'm not rushing, but I'm weirdly prone to guilt (it was a gift! it was my grandfather's!) and anxiety (what if I need it as soon as I get rid of it?!) so I need to get in a calmer headspace first.
