News & Views: end of July edition

stonepicnicking_okapiEdited to add & ask: I would like to contribute to the Harris campaign but I want just a one-time donation and not to be harassed for the rest of my life and put on some list until eternity. Is there anyway to do this?
1. The boys' father is supposed to be returning tomorrow evening. We'll see. I will start the welcome back cleaning when I know he is on the plane.
2. Now that I finished my cross stitch, I am going to embark on a Super Secret Craft project to be revealed toward the end of the year.
3. It is a very humbling realization this morning I have gained and lost the same 10 lbs for seven whole months. One step forward, one step back. It is very dispiriting. I swing between despair at not being able to stick to healthier habits and get the weight off and despair at letting this take up so much of my mental energy.
4. I showed the boys Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last week. And showed the boys The Matrix this week and they liked it. They said more than once 'oh, so that's where it comes from.' So many memes and pop cultural references in that film. And they were only scared at one point. The next one is Edward Scissorhands.
24 JULY: International Self Care Day: What do you do for self care?
I don't know that I practice self care, per se. Or think of it like that. I collage. I force myself to exercise. I meditate every day. I do yoga. I read.
25 JULY: World Drowning Prevention Day: Do you know how to swim?
I never took formal lessons. I do a modified dog paddle.
26 JULY: FBI Day: What’s your favorite FBI agent (real or ficitional)?
Spencer Reid!
27 JULY: Love is Kind Day: What’s the last act of kindness you performed?
I finished my gift cross stitch and mailed it off.
28 JULY: Buffalo Soldiers Day: Do you like reggae music?
I like Bob Marley. I don't know a lot about it, but yes, I like the beats.
29 JULY: Rain Day: Do you like rain?
I love the rain!!
30 JULY: Cheesecake Day: What’s your favorite flavor of cheesecake?
Minisculus and I went to The Cheesecake Factory a couple of weeks ago so I am up on the possibilities. He got plain and I got chocolate chip cookie dough.

Self-care is literally anything that takes care of you, be it the hobbies that keep you sane, the things you force yourself to do even when you don't want to because you need to do them, basic hygiene needs and making sure you ate, etc. So, yeah, I'd say all that counts :)
