Fic

Two multi-fandom comms I am participating in this month which have daily prompts and an advent calendar type graphic are.

To make it murder, I had Sherlock gifted an anonymous advent calendar. Those who know me can imagine who this is from and what dark things it might contain. This is for

drabblezone prompt 426: see if I care.

Summary: Just prior to John's temporary absence from 221B, Sherlock receives an interesting anonymous gift.

“Fine! I’m going!” barked John.

“Fine! Go!” bellowed Sherlock. “See if I care!”

As might’ve been predicted—if Sherlock had been in the predicting mood—exactly five minutes after the front door slammed, Mrs. Hudson popped upstairs.

“You two have a bit of a domestic? Too bad. Christmas will be here before you know it.”

“So?” snapped Sherlock.

“Good will towards men All that rot.”

“John won’t be here for Christmas. He’s been offered a month-long locum gig in Glasgow. Too good to pass up.”

“I’m sorry, Sherlock.”

“I’m not.”

Just then they both heard a knock.

“Sherlock, did you order a dolls’ house?” called Mrs. Hudson.

A pair of deliverymen clomped up the stairs carrying something heavy between them.

“Set it on the table,” said Sherlock as he took the card from Mrs. Hudson and shook his head. The men tipped their caps and left. Mrs. Hudson followed, leaving Sherlock behind to draw away the draped cloth to reveal a miniature edifice.

“What are you?”

At first glance, it did look rather like a dolls’ house but upon closer inspector, it more closely resembled a dolls’ hotel with four floors of rooms or flats all which bore little doors, each with a consecutive number from one to twenty-four on it. There were six rooms on each floor and the doors gave onto a front corridor, something like a terrace but carpeted.

The miniature world was decorated for Christmas. Festooned trees were at in the halls, and there were thick strands of holly and ivy and red velvet bows decking the walls. Each of the doors bore a tiny wreath.

“But the numbers,” mused Sherlock aloud. “It like an advent calendar, isn’t it? Tomorrow is the first of December. When John leaves, I’ll open the door and see what’s inside.”

Crafting

Also inspired by a video on the Treasure Books Youtube channel, I made an advent calendar for

bethctg. This is Super Secret Craft Project #2 and she's going through it now. I used one of Minor's old binders from school and covered it and trimmed it. I made most of the envelopes and some of the things inside (little notebooks, bookmarks, Xmas tags) but a lot of the things inside are stickers collected from various places and bought on etsy. There are big envelopes for the first day, the last day (Xmas day) and yesterday (Jin's birthday because my friend is Jin-biased). So the themes were Silver and Gold (Jin and Xmas), Mocha and Ink (chocolate/coffee and books) and I tried to include a representative of each of the four categories in each day.
