The wolf knew that she would not see the spring.
slow-moving carcass. Unable to hunt
raven, peering
a half-hearted snarl. The bird flew away.
Kraa-kraa! Kraa-kraa!
opening. The Wolf’s bark
Toc-toc-toc! Toc-toc-toc!
one side of the nest was the skull
every shape and size, shiny round pebbles
Toc-toc-toc! The raven tilted its head
Back and forth
Back and forth with its beak
The wolf closed her eyes
She slept a dreamless sleep.
