Sunshine Challenge: Yellow

Two things for yellow as I try to catch up before tomorrow's new prompt.

1. A retelling of the Venus and Adonis myth in Venus and Adonis stanza with a lemon as Venus and a pineapple as Adonis.

fine pineapple in studded armour waits
its tall, proud, sharp-tipped headdress, handsomeness
unrivaled yet inconsequential. states
that it would rather hunt; this fathomless
desire occults all others. hunt and hunt
and nothing else shall stave or sate or shunt

bright lemon glows with sunny loveliness,
bestows refreshing tang on one and all
with joyful zest, by Nature doubly blessed
with skin and rind which shines beyond the pall
but spying pineapple, thoughts turn to love
and reason is readily disposed of

no mild or bold flirtation tempts the will
of hunter for the chase. the lemon tries
mad magic, but fine pineapple yearns still
for battle, deaf to plaintive yellow sighs
the desperate lemon turned tart by scorned ore
portends a true love’s death by knife-tooth boar

the lemon finds the pineapple plate-stripped
and cut into rings, distraught, the lemon weeps
and weeps and finds that sour tears have slipped
upon pineapple’s exposed flesh which sleeps
in ever-sleep preserved by lemon grief,
a wet devotion gilds in golden leaf

and thus the lemon knows its goddess pow’r
sets out to test its tears on other fruit
it weeps on open flesh at any hour
and finds that others follow true love’s suit
at last, blind love is given shortest shrift
and makes real boon of soured fate, a gift

Thank you! Yes, I got the idea that usually you squeeze lemon juice on various fruit to prevent browning and that got the idea of lemon tears. I am glad you liked it. The pineapple was really good!
