Sunshine Challenge: Violet

It's been a good Sunshine Challenge. I enjoyed the colour prompts very much. In keeping with the suggestion in the original post, I am offering an English sonnet to anyone who wants one. Give me a prompt [e.g., a color, maybe one not covered in the challenge, pink, grey, brown, etc. or a shade, e.g., dark turquoise; or a fruit; or an image; or a fandom, see mine on AO3] and I will do my best to get you 14 lines of iambic pentameter by August 30. Ta!

blackberries by okapi
on vines, plump blackberries hang heavy, low
along an ant-hilled road, fat honeybees
crisscross, drunk-dance in circles, steady, slow
through swollen, hot-hazy, late summer ease
worn bucket fills, plump fingers, lips are stained
hard sun twists into blisters, ancient thorns
hook, snag, cake-thick air innervated, drained
distorts all but sharps tips which fruit adorns
fine trickle of sweat, wide swipe of rolled sleeve
dark purple trove collected, fetched away
for rich dessert while more are left to cleave
on brambling vines, hanging heavy, stray
how faded far-off is the memory
of blackberries’ late summer husbandry
And grapes! They're called 'red' and 'black' but they look purple to me!

Date: 2020-07-27 09:48 pm (UTC)I googled the fennec fox! What a great looking creature! And African! Very cool. I shall let it percolate.
Thanks so much for all your support. I read some of your entries, too. I was struck by your mention of combat sport/martial arts and being sort of in-between passions, and that resonated with me very much. People talk a lot about going after your goals/desires but there isn't much talk about when one goes away and another hasn't arrived yet. I definitely feel as if I've been in limbo (in many ways) for a very long time.
Anyway, thanks again for modding! I enjoyed the challenge. And I shall let you know when the fennec fox sonnet is up.

Date: 2020-08-01 12:38 am (UTC)Ok! I will think about those as prompts (all three).

I interpreted platinum as a kind of sun-kissed silver. I hope that works.
