Word Count for 2020: 373,187

Writing: The problem with the end of the year is that I'm always too exhausted to do a proper year in review. I wrote a good bit. I did a few [community profile] adventdrabbles and some fills for Miss Davis Writes Advent Calendar. I finished my [community profile] inspiring_tables 50 prompts and just posted my fill for my Season of Kink Holiday Challenge [BBC Sherlock, Alpha!Sherlock/Alpha!Mycroft, my assigned prompts: thrills, somnophilia, and bites/bruises]. I started my werewolf Nicky/Joe fic, It was a dark and stormy night.

What I did not do: finish the last 2 chapters of Monster Cock [wrapping up the mystery of the tainted candy corn] or write my final chapter of A Little Night Music, ACD Holmes inspired by nocturnes. And I didn't even touch the shibari Nicky/Joe fic. So that's what's ahead. I had an idea to do a Joe/Nicky Die Hard AU but that's been fed to the ferret.

I signed up for Get Your Words Out again at 250k, mainly because most months that's a nice goal. It's just October that the Spider Georg and should not be counted.

I un-gifted some fics where the recipient had never responded. I don't think things should be transactional but they should be reciprocal and polite, and I get peeved when there isn't a minimal acknowledgement, when it's just crickets. And some people's mental health issues react very badly with my own mental health issues, and I just have to, you know, NOT.

Personal: I've been doing my Big Clean for the past 3 days and I still have the kitchen to do. Pulling everything out, hoovering and wiping everything down, and throwing away half of it. The boys' father has taken bags and bags to the bins. It's a huge purge and my minimalist is very happy. I got myself a miniature coffee shop (from the same company that did the library of last year). And I already have 6 new puzzles to do. The winter soccer season starts on Saturday and with COVID rules, it's only one parent and no siblings so the parent who likes soccer is staying home and the parent who has to show the referee the team documents has to go and sit in the cold with the racists dads and try to pay attention so I can report back to the homestead. It's sort of like that cruel irony that the boys' father (before COVID) traveled constantly and hated traveling and I got to sit home and make lunches. Yee.

New year's resolutions. I'm getting fatter and fatter every month and it's got to stop. I need to do better with the household budget, too. The usual. Make use of my fun creativity journal. Keep up with my spiritual disciplines. Consider adopting an outlook a little more cheerful than 'Killing Time until I Die in a Way that I Hope Doesn't Bankrupt My Family.' That's all I got. :/ On y va to 2021.

Oh purging is so glorious! I had been keeping several bags of clothes and books and such in my closet to donate, and finally got them out the door a few weeks ago. Such a great feeling.

*hugs*

It'll grow again! I'm always amazed how much lighter it feels when I've had my hair cut.

One of the many, many things I like and admire about you is that you can write a sentence like this

Consider adopting an outlook a little more cheerful than 'Killing Time until I Die in a Way that I Hope Doesn't Bankrupt My Family.'

which made me laugh out loud because, wow, there are days when I can totally relate, and you put it SO WELL.

Here's to a happier new year, dear friend!

Congratulations on such an incredible word count!

I wish you the very best with your 2021 goals. <3

Yay for a clean out! I need to seriously do one, but motivating myself is hard. Yet the refreshing feeling is so lovely :) Hopefully the soccer will not be so bad and you won't have to deal with the racists dad :/

Good luck with your writing for next year!

Also excellent that you got yourself a miniature coffee shop! A nice treat to keep you going x
