Snowflake Challenge #4: Goals

In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

2021 Goals:

Writing: 250,000 words total. Poetry: At least one poem a month. At least one assignment from The Ode Less Travelled a month.

Reading: Complete my Book Bingo. Participate in the monthly Shedunnit Book Club. I have a new life-long goal of becoming a Christie Completist [i.e. reading all of Agatha Christie’s works in order of publication] so one Christie work a month. I don’t know if reading a poem a day is a feasible goal but I am going to try it for January.

I also have some personal goals about improving impulse control and establishing healthier routines.

Good luck with all your goals, but especially your Agatha Christie goal, she was one very prolific writer

Thanks. Yes, she was, under her own name and pseudonym. That's why I am calling it a life long goal. It may take me that long!

Thank you! I didn't want to put 'arts & crafts' on the list because that should be something I do because I want to and not to check a box. I hope I do some art/craft every week, but, you know, life may intervene. And I usually do a new puzzle every month, but that isn't a goal, really, in the sense of something I'm striving towards, just something I usually do.

My two turns with the Sherlock60 comm gave me a taste for being a completist. I prefer real books so I have requested The Mysterious Affair at Styles from the library, and so when it arrives, I'm off! It will be in all fairness be a life long goal if I want to do everything (the plays, Mary Westmacott, the short stories, etc.). I may or may not listen to the All About Agatha podcast. I didn't like the voices of the podcasters when they were interviewed on Shedunnit, even though that's where I got the idea.

Cool. I haven't started The Port of London Murders yet, even though it arrived. And the one for February is available through my online library system. And I'm hoping to get to Lorac!

I agree, no point in adding things to a list simply to stress yourself out. I find it helpful to take myself away from my laptop for a while - you have rather more that will cause you to do that anyway.

I wasn't keen on the podcasters' voices either - and I'm not sure I'd find myself agreeing with what they said, which would just be annoying.

Those sound like really great goals, and achievable. If you have a mix of long and short poems you can choose the poem to suit the time available!

I love the idea of reading all the Agatha Christie novels in order.

Thank you! I am going to see if a poem a day works. I know that poetry.org posts a new poem every day. And, yes, maybe I should find a book of haikus for busy days :)

There is a podcast 'All About Agatha' that is doing it (they are a few years into it), and that's where I got the idea. I think over my life I probably have read most of them, but I like the idea of being systematic.

Excellent goals! I wish you all the luck!

I've not read much Christie myself, but hope to tackle more this year. I hear you on being a completist, but didn't realize it would be such a huge commitment for AG!

Yeah, she wrote a lot so I am purposefully not putting an end date on it. I'm still waiting on a hard copy of book #1 to arrive from the library so it'll be a long process.
