Happy National Puzzle Day!

For the day, I've been working on the hardest puzzle of my puzzling career, Murder on the Nile: a Mystery Jigsaw Puzzle from Bepuzzled Classics, story by Bruce Whitehill. The challenge was no guide or picture to tell me what it was supposed to look like. But I finished puzzle and I solved the mystery!



If you want to a synopsis, I used it as the basis of an ACD ficlet (even though the original mystery is a Hercule Poirot one. I also had Lestrade get some puzzle help from Mycroft's tentacles in a 500-word, explicit ficlet, Moonlight & Roses.

I'm impressed that you managed that without a picture as a guide! I am at ... a much lower level of jigsaw puzzle solving (though, in my defense, we have cats so I haven't actually been able to do a jigsaw puzzle in oh about 20 years).

I definitely said many times 'I should've started this sooner.' I would definitely do another one but with no deadline for finishing because it was really, really hard.

Yeah, no good with cats (I remember them!). I do the puzzle in my tiny corner of the bedroom where no one plays soccer.

Far too complicated or me - I congratulate you both on finishing the puzzle and writing a fic which complements it.

And I liked the tentacle assistance with Lestrade's puzzle too.

I opened the box and said 'you've got to be kidding!' but I managed.

Yes, it is a special kind of wish fulfillment fic, to have tentacles that could take care of the boring part of a puzzle. Makes me think of Rudybago! He could do some serious 10 dimensional puzzles!
