The boys' father left yesterday for Ouagadougou; he arrived safely about an hour ago [he will be back in 4 weeks, this was normal pre-pandemic]. The past week has been a flurry of activity with getting the apartment cleaned and stocked and him ready to go; the boys finishing school; and finishing my Unconventional Courtship fic.

So now I go into a sort of SuperMom mode.

I took the boys to the pool at the apartment twice (yesterday and today). I took them bike riding this morning before breakfast. We started two craft projects from the Star Wars Maker Lab book, Minor is working on Anakin's Mechno-Arm and Minisculus and I are working on the Death Star, which involves doing paper mache, me for the first time since childhood and him for the first time ever. Messy!

We played Monopoly and we started a 500 piece Pokemon puzzle. They each have a 'bridge' workbook and so they're supposed to do a page a day out of it. Not really taxing problems but at least it keeps them minimally in school mode.

I am working on a cross stitch for my sister's birthday from Shitpost Sampler tumblr. And I am listening to Merlin Sheldrake read his own work, Entangled Life, which is all about fungi. He has a nice British voice and I am learning a lot. I am thinking about doing something about zombie ants for Hallowe'en. Creepy!

When I get tired of fungi, I am re-listening to one of my favourites:  Dan Stevens reading Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.

Tomorrow we are headed to the library for the first time since it closed last March. They are letting folks through the doors now.

I spoke with my sister, too, who was going through some kind of orchid crisis. One of her orchids got a bug and she was in a panic about treating it and not letting it spread to her other 50+ orchids.

Minisculus finally finished his soccer. They had had another cancellation and rain date and finally made it all up. I haven't been terribly impressed with the organization of his league but they made up for it by giving him an awesome trophy. It's got a soccer ball on top that spins like a globe. Seriously the coolest kids sports trophy I've seen yet.

I finished going through African American Poetry: 250 Years of Struggle and Song as well as a nice coffee table book called Hokusai's Landscapes [the Japanese artist who did The Great Wave]. Expect at least one post about that.

And I finished the June Something meme, which had a few new questions, which were interesting.

Since my daily interaction with adults has dwindled from 1 to 0, I may post more here. I am not really 'screaming' into the void as much as just putting my life out there.

Enjoy the library; it's a great feeling to finally get inside again. Looking forward to zombie ants.
