where Jupiter’s third moon politely gleams
the nursery walls absorb a low hum
of vents and ducts and pipes and rude machines
all is teal and chrome but those who know him
say Ziggy Stardust has left the Wan Fiends
to dream for his babe an eight line poem
the stars will sing the chorus, the planets, the many verses
the galaxy will serenade while Ziggy’s babe rehearses

Beneath a sparkly dome, a golden square
arrests sunlight and eyes of passersby.
Its layers clinging, not crumbling, all share
a syrupy kiss, a treacly sigh,
the kind to make lookers-on halt and stare
and want, inviting query and reply.
Sweet, stickily studded with nuts, it sits
between honey cakes and chocolate bits.

I put this on a chocolate wrapper with orange ribbon.

or a phoenix with lungs so full of ash
