Day 12: Who is someone that you share the most fandoms with?

I share a good number with smallhobbit, Sherlock Holmes in various incarnations and Golden Age of Crime authors and I read some of hers that are in fandoms I've never watched (Spooks MI-5 and Person of Interest). But Hobbit doesn't like the far ends of my tastes, meaning, horror and smut.

I am grateful for garonne on the horror side because I think we share a sensibility and they have found media that I wouldn't have known about otherwise and have enjoyed. As far as smut, I don't know that there's anyone who overlaps with my tastes a lot. ancientreader, vulgarweed, firecat cover some of the waterfront but not all, I think.


But a big shout-out has to go to Tishy (a-cumberbatch-of-cookies) who has been a near constant and always supportive commentor on my fics from the first, early days of genderswapped BBC Sherlock to some ACD to The Old Guard. She's very dear to me.

And it's nice to find commentors who liked your niche characters. Custardcrush likes Jeeves and Wooster AND--and this is the incredible part--has a weakness (as I do) for my fem!Mycroft, it's nice to squee about fem!Mycroft with them.

Day 13: Squicks - What are some things that squick you in fandom - not necessarily "icky", though it can be. From anything involving blood, to bad grammar.

This will be short because I am NOT into kinkshaming or making other people feel bad for their choices. My hard NOs in kink are humiliation and scat (in that order). Everything else, in the right hands, I've found can be enjoyable.

The word 'cum' used unironically, that is, in non-textspeak, is something that I usually avoid.

And, lastly, and here I want to stress that I don't judge ANYONE who enjoys this and does this and sees this as a good thing, but I don't usually read fic where there is the rampant use of Christian names between Victorian and Edwardian gay lovers. I don't think Holmes and Watson call each other John and Sherlock even in bed. Maybe if one of them were dying or during the Orgasm to End all Orgasms, perhaps. I also feel uncomfortable with Bertie calling Jeeves 'Reggie' or Jeeves calling him 'Bertie.' But that's just me. If it isn't you, that's fine.

This question is difficult because I have little memory of what I read as a child. I have a vague recollection of liking The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Jester.

The Stately Home Murder by Catherine Aird, specifically the audiobook version narrated by Robin Bailey.

What is a book you've read a number of times?

Aunts Aren't Gentlemen by P. G. Wodehouse.
