The Friday Five: Keeping Cool
Jun. 25th, 2021 08:41 pm1) What's your favorite dish to bring to a summer cookout?
I usually bring a cut fruit tray/bowl from the grocery store because I hate cooking. But I LOVE picnic food: deviled eggs, watermelon, corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, grilled burgers and hotdogs, low country boil, you name it.
2) How much time have you spent outdoors this week?
A lot! Since Monday, I've taken the boys to the pool three times. I took them to the petting zoo on Wednesday. I've taken them out bike riding twice. When the boys go out to play with the neighbours, I sit on the balcony and watch them. It's been a fairly cool week, but the weekend should be hotter.
3) Where do you set your thermostat?
78 degrees F(25.5 C). I can stand it up to 80 (26.6 C). But I turn it off a lot because when I sit on the balcony, I don't like the noise.
4) How did you learn to swim?
I learned on my own (and didn't learn much--I can do a simple dog paddle). I took an Adult Beginner Swim class several years ago and enjoyed it but have forgotten most of it.
5) How do you avoid overheating?
The usual. A/C. Cold drinks & water. Wearing light clothes. A cool shower does wonders, too.
