My poems: R is for reindeer
Dec. 20th, 2022 12:17 pmSo I wanted to try a blackout poem, and picked The Night Before Christmas and reindeer. Not really a poem, but interesting lines. It didn't turn out as cool as I'd hoped but that's life. I used Xmas washi tape to do the blackout.
So it goes:
reindeer, a little moment it must be
eagles call'd them "Now! now! now "On! on! on dry the wild hurricane fly
in a twinkling, prancing and pawing A back, peddlar eyes--roses
nose a cherry
droll little stump held tight in teeth, And smoke
encircled a wreath shook laugh'd full of right
elf saw spite wink and twist
rose. sprung a whistle, a thistle: out of sight--and good night

Dec. 20th, 2022 01:26 pmSo this is Christmas!
The boys are in school for the whole week. Back in the day, we got about a month off, but not so anymore. They get a week and a day and that's it.
I was proud of Minisculus on Saturday morning. He was brave in trying a new sport. His team lost badly, but he got a few shots on goal (or whatever it's called).
I made the family make some felt ornaments. And I need to take another photo of my little puzzles. We've done four more, me and the boys.

I am still working on my acrostic poems. I'm up to U. I'm less than 6k words away from my end of the year goal. And I'm at #11 of 12 workouts for my t-shirt. I am thinking of trying Noom (the weight loss system) in the New Year. Others seem to have had success with it. Gotta try something and something new (not Weight Watchers) because I'm getting bigger and bigger...
I have mentioned before I have the best Christmas mystery short story collection in English in the world, and so I still do. I still have Santa Climbing a Ladder, too.

Title: S is for snowy
Poetic form: cinquain
secret
not shared aloud
only children hope for
white Christmas, winter wonderland
yearning
Title: T is for (very sinister) Tinsel
Poetic form: Sicilian sestet
tracks of silver and gold tinsel
in mimic of shine of ice
nod and loop like tails prehensile
stretching and curling once and twice
encircling the Christmas tree
lying in wait, silently

Dec. 20th, 2022 04:05 pmSo I don't know where top left is. Like 'Christmas Pageant' this one just says 'Ski Lodge.' But top right is Strasbourg (I think) and bottom right is Central Park in NYC and bottom left is Canada (there's a Canadian flag) but
kingstoken or others might be able tot ell if it's a specific Canadian forest or generic CANADA! 3 more to go.
