I mentioned in my recent Book Bingo post that I like the Inspector Rebus (of Scotland) series by Ian Rankin. It's a bit dark and gruesome as far as the crimes go, and Rebus is predictably flawed (drink, ladies, emotional constipation) but it is comforting to me. I am trying to read them all in order and in between my library (audio and print books) and my sister sending me some used ones, I am managing it. There are about 25 in the series, and I'm on #11, so I still have a lot more to enjoy.
To keep the rules of the Seven Cover challenge, I am not going to talk about the covers, except to say that I am happy the ones my sister sent me for Xmas have interesting covers. I don't own a lot of new books, many of the ones I have I've posted in past years for the covers challenge, and some simply have plain covers, so getting to 7 was going to be a bit of a stretch without ol' Rebus.
So, I realized my definition of 'fannish' with respect to these Fannish 50 posts is 'something I like that I've done something creative about/with.' That's a decent definition, no? So if I collage or fic or do something else about X, then I'll post about it.
So I actually made a spread about Edinburgh (Rebus' stomping grounds) using back pages of an paperback copy of a Rebus novel. I also did a ficlet about Rebus for
