Into the Void

The boys' father isn't returning from Mali on Thursday as scheduled. To say I am Very Disappointed would be a serious understatement.
So I am going to have to go to the school open house [and haul 2 very heavy bags of supplies and visit two teachers along with 600+ other kids' parents in a 40 minute time window and find parking!] by myself.
And I'm going to miss the Shedunnit watchalong this Sunday because Minor has his first 2 soccer games this weekend. For emotional reasons, of course, it really sucks for Minor that the parent who cares about soccer is missing this.
But it is what it is.
So today the pest control came. So the boys and I left at 10 am and didn't return until 4 pm. We went to the library, I drove by Dunkin Donuts and got coffee (because we're out of milk and I don't drink coffee without milk and 10 am is too early for 5 hour energy according to Some Rule I Have), I got petrol and air in the tires, we went shopping for Minor some new school clothes [got him new shoes, 2 shirts, 2 shorts, and underwear], browsed a book store, went to sit-down lunch at a pizza place, went to a pet store [I was looking for special dove/pigeon seed which was out of stock, I got a suet cage and a block of seed/suet for this bird that looks like a woodpecker who I feel sorry for because my seed dispensing method isn't very accommodating for it] and then went to the supermarket and did the usual weekly haul. We got everything inside and I put everything back that had been taken out for pest control.
My feet hurt, and I am tired. But Minor brought my coffee from the car without being asked and that made it all right.
And I have 4 Korean horror movies and The Blob for my Hallowe'en research. I need to get back to posting poems and more interesting stuff than complaining about the life I chose and chronicling my to-do list.
