sixbeforelunch mentioned chili and cornbread the other day, and that got me thinking about autumn foods. So, I broke out the candy corn last night and I tried this pumpkin spice yogurt. I will not buy the yogurt again but it was okay. If it's autumn where you are, feel free to share some things you like to eat at this time of year.
I love autumn, especially since my birthday is around this time of year. :-)
I've never been on the pumpkin bandwagon and am so tired of seeing everything flavored with pumpkin spice, ugh. However, I love anything with maple and apples and pears. Give me apple pies, cider donuts (in moderation) and pretty much anything dessert with maple in it. Also enjoy a hot apple/pear cider (spiced) too.
Yay for autumn birthdays (not mine, but I think it would be fun to have an October birthday).
Ah, there is a lot of apple and maple, too, and it's a nice alternative to pumpkin spice. I like pears a lot. I don't buy them as much as I should, but tomorrow is shopping day in my world so I will put them on my list!
I LOVE candy corn! :) I could eat it by the handfuls. Well, I have, but I pay a steep price these days (fun with aging!).
This is my most favorite time of year. Dunkin's pumpkin coffee is >>>>>> than Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte, in my humble opinion. I also make a really, REALLY good pumpkin bread. That's about the extent of my pumpkin-ness.
Other things I love this time of year: mulled cider, grilled cheese sandwiches (which is our standard Bad Weather Meal in the winter, but has become a fall favorite as well), cheddar ale soup with a TON of bacon. Because we're currently without a working oven, we're making more use of our crockpot and I want to make a proper stew soon. With bread. I love bread every day of the year, but there's something about a hunk of buttered bread in the fall.
After trial and error (and error), I have finally come to the conclusion that 1 handful of candy corn is enough for me. More than that...ugh.
I have not tried DD pumpkin coffee, but I do get the boys donuts every now and then so it's on my list. I had a boss a long time ago who was a DD coffee devotee, even though we had a Starbucks in the building.
This is good crockpot cooking weather! Stews and soups are good. I don't eat a lot of bread (like BREAD bread, not sandwich bread) but once in a while, I have it and it's good.
