Puzzle: Birds of a Feather (DEFEATED!)

This is a very beautiful puzzle. Unfortunately, I couldn't complete it. I've been working on it every day for more than a month, sometimes even using a magnifying glass, and I am missing pieces and have extra pieces and the lot. I think about 80% of it is correct and the rest is probably not. And so I've declared defeat!

I have been feeling so guilty that I can't finish it correctly. I am so glad you think so. The themselves I got and the wire, but the bushes, oh, my goodness...Thank you! I've thought of you a lot the past month.

You got the birds which is why I chose the puzzle. Not perhaps the way I'd have wanted you to think of me!

It is a lovely picture—I like the slightly random mixture of birds (those long-tailed tits with white heads confused me for a moment, the ones here look different, but apparently that's the subspecies found further north)—but that background looks like a very tough puzzle indeed!

Yes, the birds are the only part I feel remotely sure about the rest is sort of random. I even had to pound some pieces in along the border which is not a good sign for a puzzler. It is a British puzzle, supporting the UK Cancer Research.
