Summary: During self-quarantine, Suga tries his hand at making a gingerbread house.
Ignoring the whines and scratches on the other side of the door, Yoongi arranged his materials in a neat array and went to work.
First, he took two of the brown rectangular wafers and applied peanut butter to the edges. Then he stood them up at a right angle to each other on the tray. Next, one by one, he added two more walls, still using peanut butter as the glue.
This done, Yoongi glanced at his phone and compared the arrangement before him with the photos of gingerbread houses he’d snapped in California. The hotel had been hosting a gingerbread house contest, and he and Hobi had been permitted to tour the exhibits one evening when no one was around. The gingerbread houses were fantastic, everything from Hogwarts to pyramids done up in graham crackers and icing and a host of decorative candies.
Yoongi knew his own creation wouldn’t be as large or as colorful or as elaborate as those, but he was still going to give it a good try. After all, he had ten days of self-quarantine to get through, and he had to find ways to amuse himself.
Yoongi used more wafers and fixed a pointed roof on top of the walls. It was a bit tricky, getting them to stick, but when he was satisfied, he moved on to decorating the little house.
Yoongi cut small columns of sausage and set them in a fence around the cottage’s perimeter. Then he made shingles for the roof using soft dark brown bits of liver. He also cut small squares of chicken and stuck them to the sides of the little house as windows.
Yoongi worked steadily, humming as he went, and when he’d run down to the last of his decorations, he strewn them about the lawn of the little house.
He stood back to admire the little house, it was mostly shades of brown, but he was pleased with the result.
Yoongi then immediately called Hobi, who was also suitably impressed once Yoongi turned the phone in the direction of his creation.
“Ohhh! It looks so good, hyung! Just like the fancy ones at the hotel!”
“Not quite, but not bad.” Yoongi glanced toward the closed door.
“Keep the phone on it, hyung,” said Hobi. “I want to see the reaction.”
It took Yoongi a minute to set things up: the tray with the little house on the floor and his phone pointed at it.
“Ready,” said Yoongi, rubbing his hands together. He stood and went to the door and opened it.
Min Holly came bounding in as fast as little poodle paws could go and raced directly toward the house.
Hobi was shrieking and laughing and making noises. “Go, go, go!”
Yoongi laughed as Holly devoured the house: dog biscuits, peanut butter, sausage, chicken, liver snacks, and the rest.
“Little monster!” teased Hobi with a cackle. He made more noises.
Yoongi crossed his arms over his chest and grinned at the destruction in progress.
