Into the Void

Wednesday is my shopping day and I went out. The lines are getting longer and the stores are getting crowded. I bought toilet paper and paper towels so maybe we're good for that kind of shopping until the New Year--dare I hope?

I made a CRAZY number of impulse purchases. II've been watching these asmr Journaling videos on Youtube so I bought some supplies to give it a try: a set of washi tape (multi-colored) and some stickers (coffee themed) and this funny tape they use. And a snowflake craft kit for the kits. I'd love to do the seals with the wax, too.

I bought 3 different notebooks. One is a vintage looking leather one with a fancy clasp and thick pages for my attempts at journaling (note: journaling, like collage, not bullet journaling, I have a separate plain notebook for that). One of them is a pretty floral design (the first one was wrapped and I couldn't tell what the pages were like and I said if I hate it, I need a backup, that's how my mind works). And one of them is BT21 (which is the BTS cartoon series). I was thinking I would use that one for my Korean language study. And I bought a fancy set of pens.

It was very difficult to find, meaning I tried four stores with no joy, but I finally bought a couple of bags of gingerbread mix because Minisculus said he wanted to make gingerbread cookies. We have a couple of cookie cutters stowed away but I had to buy some flour because, of course, I don't have any. I hate cooking and baking, and don't keep that kind of stuff. I only have sugar packets for my coffee and tea.

Anyway, the credit card is aching.

Bit of a splurge, all in all, but I liked what I bought and I hope it will keep me and the boys entertained for the holidays and into the new year. I will post photos of the notebooks and the other things when I start using them. And there is so much I just don't fancy that when I see something that does suit, I know I have to get it because it won't be there the next time I visit. Like craft kits and what not.

I was surprised about Minisculus wanting to bake. I actually have 3 cookie cutters from my own childhood that I've kept so that's what we're going to use.

Oh, yes please do post pics when you can! I haven't had the journaling itch in months, but when I do, I love doing it - and I always like to see what folks have in their stash! Do you ever watch Wendy? (https://www.youtube.com/c/WendysJournalAdventure) She does more "junk journal"-ing than regular art journaling, but it's still fun to watch. I find her videos so soothing. :)

That Youtube channel looks very cool. Very fun. I do like to mix up the vintage stuff with more modern. And on one of the tiktok compliations there was even a BTS one where the girl wrote out all the lyrics to Falling and had Jungkook stickers and whatnot.

I tried my hand at a Christmas card. Not bad for a first attempt.

And despite not having written in a paper journal for years I have a Field Notes subscription.

Ha! I just tried my hand at using my new washi tape to decorate some cards. It's fun. I can see how it would be addictive, though.

Oh, yeah? That's funny! I am hoping these notebooks are useful and don't just gather dust.

Your notebooks sound very cool.

My own problem is that when I buy a beautiful notebook I'm reluctant to write in it until I have something "good enough" to write, so I have several completely unused notebooks...

Here's a Christmas card I made yesterday using wrapping paper, stickers from the Amazon catalog, a card sent to me in past years, and 3 colours of washi tape. I got a big set of plain rolls in solid colours and three rolls with a pattern.

The notebooks are a nice variety. Fancy leather with thick plain pages, a purple floral with lined paper and a silly cartoon one for language study (I hope). Plus my plain one for life and tasks and daily logging. We'll see...

Yes, you describe my own fear exactly. I want these to be used. I had a very nice Edward Gorey engagement diary gifted to me last year that I tried to use and then left off using for the last of the year. I don't want these to be abandoned. We'll see... also I am going to check out your links from your post!
