Notes: I began this lovely puzzle (1000 pieces) on Mother's Day. It is a quilt of a view of the Welsh town of Aberystwyth. I enjoyed putting it together very much and (as you do) wrote a poem using a Welsh form about it.

Hammered in forge of briny smith,
slapped, the pier of Aberystwyth.
Pillars stalwartly
resist drubbing sea,
its murky monolith.

Colourful houses, shops, hotels
stand in neat little row which dwells
'tween Cardigan Bay
and hills, rainbow quay
with walls grey to catch swells.

See verdant undulating lands,
carved and cut as if by hands.
Observe shades of green
in well-patterned mien,
sun between cloudy strands.

A scape of water, town, and sky.
Fitting the pieces, fingers fly.
Sorted and framed and built.
Stitches, seams atilt.
Pretty quilt. Puzzle wry.

I really like the poem...the Welsh forms are fiendish but satisfying to put together...mirrors he jigsaw theme very well. Rainbow quay is just right.

And the jigsaw looks very fine, completed:-)

Thank you very much. I debated between this and the englyn milwr but I wanted something with thicker stanzas. Yes 8s and 5s and 3s don't lend themselves easily to rhythm--at least not to me! But it was nice to consider the separate parts and then the whole.

It's a beautiful puzzle. The landscape and then the patches make for two levels. The dock & water were especially fun. Thank you!

I listened to a pronunciation clip over and over from the wikipedia page. Aber-rist-with. But there's something going on between the abe and the r that I know I couldn't reproduce with my own tongue.

That is such a beautiful puzzle - I love the idea of the landscape literally being a patchwork quilt. And such gorgeous colours ^___^
