dark firmament, starry and bruised,
spilled ink above, with hues suffused,
purples and blues, reflected light
in water still, galaxy night
silhouetted leaves, canvas abused

night sea becomes celestial fused
as glowing orb sinks, is recused
from sight, leaves behind in its flight,
dark firmament

rocks, trees, under sky-seas infused,
highway, too, runs beneath perfused
dome, unfurling with all its might
its ribbon tongues, yellow and white
as if to kiss the much amused
dark firmament
