Do you recommend it? I have been looking for (beginner's) books about writing poetry.

I would NOT recommend it as a beginner's book. I have not delved too deep into it, but it strikes me as something for someone wishing to refine their craft and to publish and very modern, today's poetry. IF (and only IF) you like the humor of Stephen Fry (Jeeves), I would recommend his book, The Ode Less Travelled, as a nice beginner book. Another one is Rules for the Dance by Mary Oliver. These two both are recommended with the caveat that I prefer to read and write metrical verse (poems with established forms for rhyme and stress like sonnets and villanelles, etc) as opposed to most modern verse.
