Summary: Peppa goes outside with a magnifying lens to look at bug friends.
One bright summer morning, Peppa was eating her breakfast when something small and black buzzed by and landed on the wall behind her.
“What is that, Mummy?” asked Peppa.
“It’s a bug called a fly,” said Mummy Pig. “I’m going to shoo it outside.”
“Look at its eyes!” said Peppa. “Mummy, can I have the lens I used to play detective?”
Mummy Pig opened a drawer and gave Peppa the magnifying lens.
“Oh!” said Peppa. She looked at the fly’s eyes through the lens.
“Finish your breakfast, Peppa,” said Mummy Pig. She got a kitchen towel. “I’m going to ask the fly to go outside to play with its bug friends.”
“Can I go outside and play with its bug friends, too?” asked Peppa.
“After you finish your breakfast,” said Mummy Pig.

The first bug friend Peppa met was an ant on the pavement. The bright sun shone through the lens as Peppa held it up to look at the ant.
The ant hurried away.
“Come back, ant!” called Peppa. She ran in front of the ant and sat down on the pavement to block it.
The ant ran across her ankle. “That tickles!” she said.
“Ow! That hurts!” Peppa shook her ankle and brushed the ant off. She frowned at the red bump the ant had left on her skin.

The second bug friend Peppa met was a bee. The bee was hidden in the centre of a flower.
Peppa held the magnifying lens up and looked at the bee.
The bee backed out of the flower and buzzed to another flower.
“Stop, bee!” called Peppa.
Peppa followed the bee. She ran to the next flower and stood in front of it.
“Ow! That really hurts!”
Peppa frowned at the red bump on her arm. She wanted to cry. She wanted Mummy Pig. She dropped the lens and ran home.

Before Peppa reached the door, however, she tripped and fell down.
“Ow! That hurts!”
Peppa was lying on her back, looking up at the clouds and the bright sun.
A small white butterfly fluttered by. It landed on the tip of Peppa’s nose.
“Hello, friend!” called Peppa.
The butterfly fanned its wings. Then it flew away.
Peppa stood up and picked up the magnifying lens. She returned home to tell Mummy Pig and her brother George and Teddy all about the new bug friends that she had made.
