We took the boys to the county fair today and I came home with deep fried Oreos and funnel cake!

Yes, there were a lot of deep fried options. The inside are very, very soft. So it tastes a bit like a chocolate donut or muffin.

I'm absolutely shocked this is a thing! I'm not very knowledgeable about fried food (I had something akin to liver failure as a very young child, and although at this point it's safe for me to consume them, I've lived my life barely touching anything fried, oily, fatty, alcoholic...) and I legitimately had no idea you could, just, deep-fry random things like Oreos? I'm honestly baffled right now, haha!

Oh, well, this was the county fair, but I know at the State Fair (so a larger jurisdiction) there is a booth which will fry anything. So they have big vats of fried oil ready and they will put all kinds of things in tongs and dip them in--so Twinkies (which are cream-filled sponge cakes), cheese, even macaroni-and-cheese on a stick, Snickers (which is a candy bar) pickles, okra, tomatoes, marshmallows, really anything that you want can be deep fried.

You are probably very thin! I am envious. I am not very thin--at all :(

Never come across funnel cake before. Looking it up, it does look like typical fair food.

Yes, it's just fried dough in a pattern. In the old days, the dough was flat and called an 'elephant ear.' It was good regardless!
