I'd love to hear what kind of music my friends like to listen to/associate with Hallowe'en and/or autumn.

I haven't really found any piece of classical music that sums it up better than Camille Saint-Saƫns's Danse Macabre.

I am listening to a collection called "Halloween Classics" and I have to say songs like Beethoven's Tocatta and Fugue and Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite have been spoiled for me by use in films and commercials. But not Danse Macabre. I can always listen to it.

My kids and I also like "This is Halloween" song from The Nightmare before Christmas. And, surprisingly to me, when I want to write vampire BBC Sherlock, I usually put on Rob Zombie's Dragula (I heard it on a CD I checked out from the library called 'Now That's What I Call Halloween.'). I don't usually listen to metal/rock music (or whatever genre it is) but it definitely puts me in the mood to write a certain type of fic.

And I also like "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon which also always puts me in the mood to write werewolf fic.

So, please, share your thoughts. Instrumental or songs with lyrics. What are your seasonal favorites?

Riverside by James Spaite reminds me of autumn, I'm not sure why, there is no mention of leaves, etc. It is just feeling I have

For Halloween, I usually associate with something like Rasputina's "Transylvanian Concubine" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I was thinking I didn't have anything for this but a song from my childhood popped into my head. That is, I was introduced to it in childhood - I believe it was actually written in 1934 ^__^

It's a music hall style song:

With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm

Described on Wikipedia as 'a darkly humorous song [which] tells of how the ghost of Anne Boleyn haunts the Tower of London, seeking revenge on Henry VIII for having her beheaded.' It has its moments ^___^

Typically, for me it's Thriller, although these days I wonder if that's a controversial choice? Last year I finished a Sherlock genderswap/student-AU that was set around this time of year and for a while have debated writing a silly little parody to the Thriller video with Sherlock and Watson.

I do love Werewolves of London, but sadly the Glee version ruined me for anything else. Isn't that awful?
