Request: Space and Birds

So, Minor's school year has official come to an end, and I am planning some theme weeks for the summer to keep him and Minisculus engaged until late August when school resumes (in what form, who knows). The boys brainstormed and have come up with topics. The first two are:

Outer space

and

Birds

So if you know of any good activities/books/resources for kids on these two topics, feel free to leave them in the comments. Videos and films are fine but my kids are super, super sensitive to scary stuff so anything even remotely scary will probably be a no-go. For reference:

Minor is 9 years old (finishing 3rd grade in the US, going into 4th in the fall) and academically is on level

Minisculus is 5 years old (going into kindergarten in the fall) and is a little too smart for his own good :) meaning, I think he's a bit above level

I will do my own googling and what not, but if anything comes to mind let me know.

Ok. Cool! I found a couple of books by the same author on archive.org. One of them is Flamingos Loons and Pelicans.

I was thinking about trying a bird feeder, a real one. We can't really hang anything from the balcony (we rent) but maybe there are other options. We have a pet store across the street.

We do a suction cup one with sugar water for the hummingbirds; I don't know if you get those where you live.

That's interesting. I will have to see if we have hummingbirds. I've not seen any but we live on the second floor.

They really dig our window feeder. And it was very inexpensive on Amazon, definitely in the under 20 dollar range.
