Day 4: What's your most treasured piece of fandom merch?



This mug is my most treasured piece of fandom merch. It was made by hand for me by mafief and it has my favourite passage from Sherlock Holmes canon inscribed on the side. Unfortunately, it fell out of the cupboard and lost its handle but I still use it for tea even though I have to wrap a washcloth around it to hold it.

Both Holmes and I had a weakness for the Turkish bath. It was over a smoke in the pleasant lassitude of the drying-room that I have found him less reticent and more human than anywhere else. On the upper floor of the Northumberland Avenue establishment there is an isolated corner

Bonus: What's your most treasured fandom freebie?

I am interpreting 'fandom freebie' as gift. I don't go to fandom conventions and the only time I've received 'freebies' is from ARMY at a BTS concert and in the cinema at the DDAY concert viewing. These are pins, stickers, scrunchies, candy, bottles of water, etc. But I have received some wonderful gifts. Here's a photo of two.

Alt Bonus: What's your most expensive piece of fandom merch?

BTS merch is expensive. I don't order the really expensive in-demand stuff because I don't like competitive shopping but even with the albums or the magazines ordering from abroad there is always shipping costs which usually double the price of everything. The ARMY bomb was about $75 (with batteries) but really I spend the most money on the In the Seom game (BTS phone game). I buy outfits for the characters and blasters to pass levels when I'm stumped. I really wish I had more impulse control where that is concerned. Barnes and Noble bookstore near my home carries BT21 merch but I can control myself around that. :) And occasionally I buy a supermarket magazine to cut up and make Jin cards for bethctg and to collage.



Day 5: If you could go back in time and help create a foundational work (be it book, show, movie, etc.) what would it be and what would your role be?

If I could go back in time, I would be a continuity editor for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and clear up some *cough* little inconsistencies he left behind. He probably wouldn't accept me in this role so I'd have to be a spirit who visits him in his dreams or at seances and reminds him that Doctor Watson's name is John (not James) and gently nudge him to have Holmes and Watson retire together and fact-check his knowledge of rivers in Utah.

XD I'm envisaging you as a sort of Christmas Carol-esque ghost, haunting ACD and terrifying him into getting his continuity right. Excellent idea.

Ha, ha! It would not be an easy job. I suspect he was a bad combination of arrogant and stubborn so it would take some supernatural elbow-wrenching to get him to, you know, remember how many wives Watson actually had.

Yes, it is really, really special.
