Just as Hoseok checked the clock, he heard the buzz of the intercom and smiled.
“I know I’m probably the last person you want to hear from but…”
Hoseok was still smiling when he replied,
“Come on up.”

“I was an ass, Hob-ah. I’m sorry. I realize how what I said must’ve sounded, and I know I hurt you. I respect you and care about you and think you’re amazing and…”
“Thank you for apologizing. Come here. I love you, Min Yoongi. When you’re happy. When you’re sad. Even when you’re grumpy and shoot your mouth off.”
Yoongi fell into Hoseok’s open arms, and those arms closed round him. He rested his head on Hoseok’s shoulder, and Hoseok felt Yoongi’s body relax and heard his long sigh.
Then Yoongi sniffed. “Is that pork belly?” he asked.
Hoseok was glad Yoongi couldn’t see his face. His smug expression would give the whole scheme away.
“Yeah, I was going to cook, but I think I’m too tired. I’ll put it up and cook tomorrow.”
“But you’ve already started chopping the vegetables,” observed Yoongi.
Hoseok hummed.
“Um, can I help? I mean, if you want to spend time with…”
“I would love it.”

Day 26: Forbidden Love

'Forbidden love' is a concept that I enjoy reading about and writing about in fiction but acknowledge that in real life, it usually comes with unfair if not abusive power dynamics. Like 'soulmates' and other tropes, it belongs in fiction. But the tension is nice.

Summary: Romance novelist RM spots a fan of his work on the subway.


Namjoon took a deep breath, murmured ‘carpe diem,’ and threw himself through the subway doors. He caught up with him on the platform.
“Excuse me?”
“Yes?”
“I noticed the book you were reading.”
“This?”
The corner of a manga was plucked out of a satchel.
“Not that one. The one inside that one.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The face was hard, and the tone was icy.
Namjoon held up both hands in surrender. “Okay. Sorry.” He took a step back.
“I’m not going to be mocked by some stranger for what I read!”
“Good. I’m not going to be abused by some stranger for what I write!”
The silence was stony, but neither of them moved. Namjoon wasn’t even breathing.
“You wrote Forbidden Love?”
“Yes.”
“You’re Tatiana Kim?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I can tell you how Paloma and Victor are going to finally get together in the next book, the final book, Love’s Reunion. I can tell you because I just wrote it this morning.”
“Don’t spoil it! What kind of monster are you?” He looked around, then back at Namjoon. “Okay. Write it on a scrap of paper, with your phone number, fold it up, and put it in here.” He produced the copy of Forbidden Love. “Then we’ll see when the book comes out.”
“It might be a year.”
A shrug. “I’m worth the wait.”
Namjoon smiled. “I like it.”
“If you thought up Forbidden Love, I can see why. You appreciate imagination. And improbable and contrived scenarios.”
Namjoon was grinning now. “You’re gorgeous and you have excellent taste in literature. I love your pink ears. Kim Namjoon, at your service.”
“You smell good. You’re brave or possibly a lunatic with adorable dimples. Kim Seokjin. I’m turning my back. Be quick.”
“Yes, sir.”
